How To Support People In Crisis

Mental Health Advice and Support

Mental health is as important as physical and it can be just as debilitating when it becomes severe or long-lasting. If you feel that you are suffering from mental health problems, whether it is mild or more serious and you are struggling to deal with everyday life and situations then it may be worth talking to your GP about things. It is important that we seek help as soon as possible as this can help prevent mild mental health problems becoming a greater problem.

It is estimated that one in four of people are suffering from a mental health issue of one type or another and we want to help reduce stigma and discrimination that people with mental health issues often feel and experience. We want to break down and remove the barriers and get people talking about mental health and show that it’s nothing to be ashamed of, we aim to begin this dialogue with a simple question “Are You Ok?”

A conversation about mental health issues with your family and friends can be a good place to start to improve your mental health or that of those around you. If you want to talk to someone other than your family or friends, you can always speak to your GP; in Leicester and Leicestershire you can also find help and advice be at LAMP, Network for Change, and Adhar

You can find valuable support help and advice, including free resources at MIND and Time to Change. There are also a range of NHS-endorsed digital applications that can help treat depression and anxiety, and improve access to psychological therapies.
