The Railway Mission is delighted to announce the appointment of Mameri Eze as a new Trustee. With a strong foundation in Christian faith, professional leadership, and community service, Mameri brings a wealth of experience and passion to the Mission’s work of supporting railway staff and their families through pastoral care, prayer, and emotional support.
Mameri’s involvement with the Railway Mission stems from her deep-rooted Christian values and firsthand understanding of the pressures railway workers face. “My Christian faith is central to everything I do,” she says. “The Mission’s commitment to offering care and encouragement in challenging times resonates deeply with my own calling to serve others.”
Professionally, Mameri is a senior project manager at GWR, with extensive expertise in finance, project delivery, and strategic leadership. Her work includes mentoring and supporting career development through GWR’s Future Employee Network and volunteering as a coach with The Access Project. “My background in project management and financial accountability equips me to help the Mission ensure long-term sustainability and growth, while bridging the gap between faith, pastoral care, and workplace well-being,” she explains.
The UK rail industry faces increasing challenges, from operational pressures and modernisation to the growing mental health needs of its workforce. Mameri believes the Railway Mission’s chaplaincy services are uniquely positioned to meet these needs. “Our chaplains offer confidential, faith-rooted support that can make all the difference for railway staff facing difficult circumstances. They ensure that no railway worker faces those moments alone.”
Looking to the future, Mameri envisions an even greater role for pastoral care in the rail community. “I believe faith-based support will become an integral part of workplace well-being strategies. The Mission has the potential to embed compassion and human connection into the heart of the industry.”
She highlights the Mission’s unique strengths, its relational approach and its ability to build trust within the rail community. As a Trustee, she aims to help grow the Mission’s reach, strengthen partnerships, and enhance digital accessibility so that chaplaincy services are available wherever they are needed most.
Mameri’s long-term hope is that the Railway Mission will leave a legacy of care, resilience, and faith within the industry. “I want railway staff to know that they are valued and supported, not just as employees, but as people. My prayer is that the Mission becomes a cornerstone of the rail community’s commitment to compassion and well-being.”
